Wiesner-Hager was the first company in the office furniture sector to draw up an annual input-output balance and has always been a pioneer in ecological product design. Since 2006 Wiesner-Hager has been the only furniture manufacturer with a swivel chair awarded the Austrian Environmental Label – paro. Now the youngest member of the family, paro_plus, can be proud to have received the same award.
How to make a swivel chair eligible for eco-labelling
We performed pioneer work in ecological product design as early as in the 1990s with a series of exemplary products. The thesis chair line, for example, was awarded the ECODesign Prize and is still renowned today as a trend-setting pioneer project. Meanwhile, all products leaving our design workshops have been planned throughout according to ecological criteria. This consistent policy has achieved full recognition: the office chair range of paro / paro_plus has been awarded the Austrian Environmental Label – now for the third time in succession.
The strict criteria of the Austrian Ministry of Environment in a nutshell: high ergonomic product quality, recyclable design, at least 50% of which is made of non-metallic parts formed from regenerative raw materials or on a basis of secondary materials, also freedom from PVC; furthermore, appropriate practical functioning, quality, and product safety.
Something a little more ecological, perhaps?
On request the new paro_plus chair can also be delivered dismantled in a small box, and can also be assembled without tools. This is an additional benefit for the environment: the smallest possible transportation volume for a swivel-chair of its class. The smallest possible transportation volume means less storage space, fewer lorries on the roads, lower emissions and less noise, more meadow flowers lining the roads and more habitat space for animals. Voilà.
